Stainless steel collar
Welded collar is a type of reinforcement used in the connections of pipeline sections or for connecting pipes to capacitive, measuring and other types of equipment. Other names of the collar are flanging, bortshayba. It is included in the set of parts used in the connection with the help of free flanges. The welded collar is a ring with a protrusion, the so-called collar, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the pipe. The free flanges are put on the connected ends of the sections, then collars are welded to the ends of the pipes, and the connection is tightened with fasteners installed in the holes of the free flanges using sealing gaskets. This type of connection is characterized by strength and tightness, ensuring the reliability and durability of the pipeline, ease of installation and disassembly. The stainless steel collar gives it additional properties: corrosion resistance, resistance to high pressure, high and low temperatures and their fluctuations, environmental friendliness. Therefore, flanged connections with stainless collars are used to work in aggressive and abrasive environments, under increased loads, as well as where there are increased requirements for cleanliness. Stainless steel collar is a mandatory component of piping strapping at chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, metallurgy, construction and housing and communal services. Since the free flanges themselves do not come into contact with the working medium, they can be made of less expensive materials, which ensures the cost-effectiveness of this type of connection.
ALFA-STAR company offers stainless steel welded collars made of AISI 304 (08X18H10), AISI 316 (03X17H14M2) in the size range DN 10 – 600 mm. AISI 316 alloy with the addition of molybdenum gives the product increased anti-corrosion and strength properties, so collars made of this steel can be used in working with acidic and alkaline media, including seawater.
